More about the band members:

John Perrine, Associate Professor, is Coordinator of Jazz Studies and Director of Jazz Ensembles at Cleveland State University. He has premiered works by Kari Juusela, Aaron Johnson and William Price. Perrine holds a doctorate from Louisiana State University, a masters from Northwestern University, and a BME from Stetson University. His teachers include James Bishop, Fred Hemke, Jonathon Helton and Griffin Campbell. He has studied jazz with Harold Blanchard, Don Owens, Tony Garcia and Michael Koucour. John is a founding member of the Red Stick Saxophone Quartet. The quartet has won national prizes in the MTNA and Fischoff chamber music competitions. Perrine's composition "Vonnegut: Suite for Saxophone Quartet" was premiered at the North American Saxophone Alliance International Convention in Columbia, South Carolina by the Red Stick Saxophone Quartet.

Chris Vance has been a consistent performer in both classical and jazz, rock, and world music realms throughout his career. In addition to an active freelance schedule locally, Mr. Vance recently has performed with The Oblivion Project, Nicole Henry, Dominick Farinacci, Sam Morrison (Miles 'On The Corner'), Abdou Mboup (Paul Simon, Jean Luc-Ponty), Mike Clark w/Jeff Berlin, and Bobby Rydell ('Volare'). Chris has also led groups that have opened for Joey DeFrancesco, Ray Brown, and Harry Connick Jr. as well as toured Europe with Kassaba in 2007. Mr. Vance holds a Master of Music in Double Bass Performance from The Cleveland Institute of Music, a Bachelor of Music in Double Bass Performance from SUNY at Buffalo and a Bachelor of Arts in Music Theory from SUNY at Buffalo.

As an internationally acclaimed drummer and percussionist, Bill Ransom has played some of the world’s biggest halls with a host of world-famous artists. While building his performing career Bill also worked as an educator, guiding countless young drummers into professional careers. One passion fueling another. When Bill is your teacher, you will learn things that other drummers just can’t teach. Bill is an educated musician who trained in schools, clubs, and concert halls. It’s that kind of well-rounded real-world education that makes him comfortable playing Jazz, R&B, Blues, Classical, or Rock.

By embracing the influence of his heroes from the jazz tradition and retaining his own musical personality, guitarist Dan Bruce has developed a unique and impressive musical voice. A recent transplant to Ohio after spending a decade as an important member of Chicago’s vibrant jazz scene, he is active throughout the United States as a performer, recording artist, composer and educator. Bruce’s groups have been featured in The Chi-Town Jazz Festival, The Chicago Composers Collective series at the Green Mill, The Chicago Cultural Center Chamber Music Series, The Jazz Institute of Chicago NextGen Jazz Series, South by Southwest, the Toledo Jazz Festival, The Akron Jazz Festival, The Ohio City Summer Festival, Ideastream on WCPN FM Cleveland and a special live radio broadcast on WDCB FM Chicago.
