The Glenn Holmes Trio is one of the most in demand jazz trios in Cleveland and they are long overdue for a performance at BOP STOP. Glenn Holmes, Bass: A native Clevelander, Glenn is a bass player, band leader, performs as a guest soloist in classical and jazz, and is a published composer. He earned his Bachelor of Music in String Bass & Music Theory from Miami University (Ohio) and Master of Music in Theory/Composition from Wichita State University. He has performed with Ignacio Berroa, Charlie Rouse, Andy Narell, Jerry Hahn, Richie Cole, Doc Cheatham, Keith Copeland, Eddie Daniels, Joe Williams, Jimmie Heath, Benny Bailey, Clark Terry, Cindy Blackman, Benny Golson, Russell Malone, Charlie Haden, Sean Jones, Vanessa Rubin, Bill Pierce, and many others. As a freelance musician, he has worked with The Eric Gould Trio, Bill Ransom Quintet, Okios Ensemble, and Jazz Heritage Orchestra. Glenn is currently a faculty member at The Music Settlement.

Seth Johnson, Guitar: Seth Johnson is an established guitarist, a passionate composer and dedicated educator (all ages and skill levels). Having earned his Bachelor of Music in Jazz Performance from San Francisco State University, and his Master’s degree from Mason Gross School of the Arts (under the tutelage of Vic Juris), Johnson grasps and interprets a well-rounded, expansive scope of musical genres. He plays Jazz, Western Classical, Afro-Cuban, Afro-Peruvian, Brazilian, African, Country, Funk, Bosa Nova, Hip Hop, and any popular North American styles. From free improvised music, to Rock, to Jazz standards, he will have fun with all of it, taking the music as far as his body allows.

Paul Samuels, Drums: As a teen living in Cleveland Heights, Paul attended many concerts with his father, a violinist with The Cleveland Orchestra. Jazz innovators such as McCoy Tyner, Tony Williams, Duke Ellington, Dizzy Gillespie, and Sarah Vaughan inspired Paul to become a drummer and band leader. Paul also recorded, performed, and toured internationally with a long list of great musicians, such as Bill DeArango, James Moody, David ”Fathead” Newman, Hank Crawford, Roy Meriwether, Lonnie Plaxico, Pat “The Kid” Martino, Jack McDuff, Larry Coryell, Houston Person, Bill Pierce, Dominick Farinacci, and Gerald Levert. In 2006, Paul released Speak, an album featuring Greg Osby, Dan Wall, and Jamey Haddad.
