August 5 from 8:00pm - 10:00pm
Get ready for a classic night of blues, soul, and jazz that will transport you back in time. Guitarist, Billy Artis, who performed for years with Eddie Baccus Sr, has created a new band, Artis In The Night. This evening's show will feature two Cleveland vocal legends, Ron Davis and Shirley Cook. Tickets to attend this show in person are $20 each. This performance will also be livestreamed on BOP STOP's Facebook page at showtime. Accessing the stream is free but donations are encouraged and can be made at www.givebutter.com/ArtisInTheNight
Featuring:
Ron Davis has performed with Harold Melvin and The Blue Notes and Clifford Davis. He has worked with the Melting Pot Jazz Orchestra, The Edna Duffy Dance Troupe, the Eddie Baccus Quartet, Gabriel's Horns, and closed out the 2015 Cleveland Tri-C Jazz Fest. He is active fronting his own ensemble and with his own radio show on WKHR 91.5 FM. Davis maintains a long association with the Cleveland TOPS Swingband as a singer and Director of Marketing.
Shirley Cook is a sultry, smoky, and internationally acclaimed jazz singer from Cleveland, Ohio. Ms. Cook has been bringing her improvisational jazz vocals to the Cleveland music scene for over 36 years. She’s been noted by the Plain Dealer as having a “deep alto voice reminiscent of the late Carmen McRae.” Also, by the Call & Post for being a “dynamic jazz vocalist who has her own style with ballads and tempos.” Ms. Cook’s captivating and highly interactive performances have a way of making you feel like she’s singing to you and only you. Through her music, Ms. Cook shares her personal experiences in hopes people will be able to connect and see themselves within her music.
