Multi-Grammy award winning trumpeter John Daversa, has teamed up with acclaimed jazz pianist Tal Cohen, creating an open vessel of musical imagination and creativity within a modern duo setting. Tickets to attend in person are $20 each. The show will also be livestreamed on BOP STOP's Facebook page at showtime. Accessing the stream is free but donations are encouraged and directly support the band. These two masters of their instruments share a special chemistry of spontaneity and improvisation, diving deep into the realms of possibilities and enchantment within each performance. Their personal and artistic connection allows for a completely new and fresh interpretation of the classic duo format. The music Daversa and Cohen bring to life can be described as an accessible sound, all the while simultaneously exciting the listener’s senses on the highest level, and thereby surprising the audience with a broad set of show highlights.

John Daversa is a distinguished trumpet-player, composer, arranger, producer, bandleader and educator. He is world-renowned for his virtuosic, dynamic and emotive style of trumpet and EVI playing, along with imaginative, genre-bending compositions and arrangements. Originally from Los Angeles, CA, he is currently residing in Miami, FL where he is Chair of Studio Music and Jazz at Frost School of Music, University of Miami. In addition to multiple awards as a bandleader and educator, his large jazz ensemble album, American Dreamers: Voices of Hope, Music of Freedom received three Grammy Awards and his big band album Kaleidoscope Eyes: Music of the Beatles received three Grammy nominations. His 2020 release, Cuarentena: With Family at Home, an album of original and traditional Cuban boleros, pays homage to familial love and the healing power of music during the time of Covid, and features Latin Jazz stars pianist Gonzalo Rubalcaba, bassist Carlo De Rosa, drummer Dafnis Prieto and percussionist Sammy Figueroa. His 2021 release, All Without Words: Variations Inspired by Loren, is a lush orchestral trumpet concerto played by the Daversa Jazz Orchestra and composed by Daversa’s friend Justin Morell, dedicated to Morell’s autistic son Loren. Daversa’s music embraces gratitude, humility, integrity, and innovation. As fellow trumpeter and composer Terence Blanchard said of Daversa’s work “This is art. This is what music should be. No re-creation. No mimicking. Just honesty. Fearless honesty.”

John Daversa is a Schilke Music Artist (trumpet) and a Berglund Artist (NuEVI).

Tal Cohen is a Grammy award winning jazz pianist currently located in Miami. He has received much acclaim including winning the Barry Harris National Piano Competition and was the recipient of the prestigious Freedman Fellowship him performed to a sold out crowd at the Sydney Opera House.

Recently, Tal Cohen has been playing around the Globe with Terence Blanchard, Greg Osby, Ignacio Berroa, Joe Lovano and others. he currently leads his own ensemble which has performed at Iconic jazz festivals and venues that include Jazzbez Jazz Festival (Ukraine), Detroit Jazz Festival, Melbourne Jazz Festival (Australia), a three week residency at the Black Cat (San Fransisco).

His most recent album- "Gentle Giants" has received international acclaim and gained him many reviews including a 4 star review from the historic Downbeat Magazine.

Cohen has become one of the most in demand pianists as he continues to tour the globe with his unique blend of Jewish melodies, traditional jazz Harmony and an impeccable rhythmic pallet forging a path to be remembered.
