BIO:
Unc D is the inventor of MUMBLE JAZZ and releases new music every week! Since debuting in June 2019, the 750mins+ Unc D discography has gained a global audience and has been featured on the most prestigious playlists in Jazz, all while independently recording and releasing - with $0 budget - in Youngstown, Ohio. Over 40 songs have been added to Spotify editorial playlists, including State of Jazz, Jazz Funk (of which Unc D was on the cover in Sep '22), Jazztronica, Best Jazz Songs of 2022 and more. Additionally, Unc D songs have been added to editorial playlists on Apple Music, Youtube Music, and NPR Music, which included the world's first MUMBLE JAZZ song on their New Music Friday and Jazz Night: On the List Playlists.
Unc D (bass, autotune, DJ) is joined by co-producer/ keyboardist Thin Thicket and drummer Damon the Soulful Samurai. MUMBLE JAZZ is a one of a kind new subgenre of jazz which balances group improvisation with modern hip hop production, via the use of autotune and 808 drum machine in a jazz trio setting. While jazz listener's do not often encounter autotune and 808 drum machine, MUMBLE JAZZ embraces these instruments to introduce improvisation to non-jazz listeners, while updating the fusion arrangement and instrumentation to match live arrangements in modern hip hop. Just as Miles and others sought to match rock groups in the late 60's by adding electric guitar, electric piano and wah pedals to their instrumentations, Unc D seeks to match modern hip hop acts by adding autotune and 808 drum machine to his jazz trio.
