Kathy Kosins @ BOP STOP

Detroit Jazz and Soul Artist Kathy Kosins makes her debut at the BOP STOP! Kosins, along with pianist Joe Leaman, bassist Jordan McBride and Drummer, Scott Kretzer, will be performing the repertoire from Kosins’ many recordings, with the emphasis on her modern exploration of The West Coast Cool Movement from her critically acclaimed album 'To The Ladies Of Cool', a celebration of the artistry of Anita O’Day, Chris Connor, Julie London and June Christy, while also weaving in her jazz infused soul originals, from her 2018, critically acclaimed album, 'Uncovered Soul’.

Tickets to this event are $20 each. This event will not be livestreamed.

With 6 albums and 12 singles released worldwide and having performed at jazz festivals and prestigious clubs globally, Kosins is thrilled to present this sophisticated material at BobStopCatering To both Jazz and Soul aficionados, Kosins wows audiences with her impeccable, flawless phrasing and a deep-rooted passion for telling the story. Her eclectic musical palette delves deep into the rich history of both Jazz And Soul.

Kosins has recorded, performed and/or shared the stage with many well known Jazz and R&B artists including Gregory Porter, Kevin Mahogany, Terence Blanchard, Gerald Clayton, Cyrus Chestnut, Terrell Stafford, Randy Brecker, Don Was, Michael Henderson, Peobo Bryson, Red Holloway, James Moody, to name a few.

Kathy Kosins had learned her craft as a background singer in the mid 90’s with Michael Henderson and Was/Not Was. In the late 90’s, she moved to a more traditional jazz approach and released her first album of jazz material, earning her immediate success in the jazz world. Excellent reviews and airplay continued with subsequent projects which included a collaboration with Kevin Mahogany. Also, as a jazz educator and recording artist, she has been an artist in residence at over 180 colleges and universities. As a songwriter, her credits include a vast amount of tunes for recordings, TV and movies.

When not touring the USA or Europe, Kathy, a true renaissance woman, excels as a painter. Her abstract acrylics on canvas are influenced by the cubist paintings of the '50s.Commissioned paintings are held in private collections and Kosins continues to sell her work atboth gallery shows and concert performances. Integrating her art of the visual and the auralnature, Kosins is bringing her painting to the stage, by incorporating live-painting at everyperformance. Her work is currently being displayed and represented by a notable Detroitgallery.
