Jordan Guldman is a trumpet player and composer from Truckee, California. Jordan excels in improvised music and has developed a distinct sound on the trumpet that draws inspiration from Don Cherry and Bluegrass music.

In high school, Jordan was mentored on the trumpet by Ralph Alessi and participated in the California All State Jazz Band. Jordan is currently attending the Oberlin Conservatory where they study privately with Eddie Henderson and Gary Bartz. At Oberlin they participated in the Oberlin Jazz Ensemble, led multiple small ensembles, and were accepted into the Oberlin Sonny Rollins Jazz Ensemble. Jordan plays trumpet and composes for The Music Quintet, and composed 4 songs on the group’s debut album Plays Music. In 2023, Jordan released their debut album Blue Mountain, White Cloud which consists of original music and a composition by Wadada Leo Smith.

Noah Nelson is a drummer and composer from San Luis Obispo, California. An in-demand and versatile freelance musician, he has performed for sold out audiences at venues such as Dizzy’s Club (New York, NY), The Crocodile (Seattle, WA), and Mississippi Studios (Portland, OR) with groups ranging in style from bebop to indie rock. He is a founding member of The Music Quintet, a free-improvising/creative music ensemble that formed in 2022 and released their debut album Plays Music in July of that year.

Noah is set to graduate from the Oberlin Conservatory in May of this year and his plans for post-grad life include an increased schedule of writing, recording, and performing, as well as putting out the follow-up to his debut EP Summertime in February, which was released in early 2023.

Coleman Rose is a saxophonist and composer from Boston, MA, currently enrolled at the Oberlin Conservatory, studying with the great Gary Bartz. He is a member of The Music Quintet and the Griffin Woodard Group, both of which released debut albums in 2022. Rose has been often recognized for his playing and composing over the years, having been invited as artist in residence at the Boysie Lowery Living Jazz Residency (Wilmington, DE) and the Avaloch Farm Music Institute (Boscawen, NH). He loves music and hopes you do too.

Abe Gold is a pianist originating from New York, NY. He attends Oberlin College and Conservatory, where he is a student of Dan Wall. He loves to play music, and loves playing music with The Music Quintet!

Owen H Frankel is a bassist, vocalist, and composer based in Chicago, Illinois. In 2022, he graduated from the Oberlin Conservatory of Music where he studied with Peter Dominguez and Gerald Cannon. While a student at Oberlin, Owen was a founding member of groups Slampson and The Music Quintet. He has also released much music under his own name that highlights him as an adept and unique indie singer-songwriter. An in demand improvising musician in Chicago, Owen can be seen playing regularly at venues around the city and beyond with musicians such as the Vincent Davis, the Jamal Damien trio, and Ernest Dawkins; as well as his recently formed project, Our Mutt.
