The Music Settlement’s Inaugural Violin Day

Love to play the violin and want to nerd out on it for a day?! Then please consider participating in The Music Settlement’s inaugural Violin Day hosted by TMS String Department Head and violin faculty member, Dr. Eva Mondragón!
We will dive into all things violin, from body awareness and optimization, to advanced techniques for both right and left hands, and best practices for practicing. We will end the day with a sight reading session for violin ensemble with all the participants. The workshop is designed for students at the intermediate level (at least Suzuki book 4) and beyond, so if that’s you, come and join us!
Violin Day Schedule
- 8 - 8:15am - Welcome/Intro to Day
- 8:15 - 9:15am - Body awareness and warm up exercises
- 9:15 - 10:15am - Left Hand Deep Dive (shifting, vibrato, left hand articulation)
- 10:30 - 11:30am - Right Hand Deep Dive (sound production, bow distribution/speed, articulations)
- 11:45am - 12:45pm - How to optimize your practice sessions (volunteers welcome!)
- 1 - 2pm - Fiddling/Group sight reading session
Participants are welcome to stick around after to enjoy a recital at 3:00pm presented by TMS' String Department.
