---------------------
The Cleveland Tough Old ProS Swingband has its roots in a 2003 concert at the A.M McGregor Home in E. Cleveland where resident, Cleveland music legend, Vince Patti, invited several mostly retired but still active professional musicians to entertain his fellow residents with big band music. As a result, well known musicians/band leaders, Dick Wooley & Joe Trczinski, decided to develop the idea of a local senior band of experienced retirees with solid credentials from dance bands, theater pit ensembles & The Cleveland Orchestra. Thus, in 2004, The Seventeen piece Cleveland TOPS Swingband was formed and began entertaining senior audiences in the Cleveland area with Dick Wooley as Music Director/CE0.
After many years of success and following his passing, Dick Wooley was succeeded by Jim Wonnacott as Music Director, and Larry Patch was appointed Executive Director as the TOPS continued on its mission “Big Band Music, By Seniors, For Seniors.” Now, even after 20 years, the Cleveland TOPS continues to live up to its original motto while also performing for other various audiences in many NE Ohio venues.
