Liam Speaks is an 18-year-old multi-instrumentalist and self-taught producer/composer from Ohio. He has honed in on his jazz piano skills from a very young age, eventually becoming a part of Spirit of the Groove. Apart from his jazz piano playing, Speaks composes and produces original music in a diverse array of styles, with influences ranging from Dilla-esque hip hop beats, jazz fusion, samba, post-punk, art pop, and everything in between.
Nehemiah “Stix” Baker is an 18-year-old drummer hailing from Cleveland’s east side. While attending Cleveland’s School of the Arts, he has taken his skills to an unforeseen level through his dedication not only to the music but to the scene and community surrounding it. Stix’s gospel-influenced approach to supporting a band feeds this group’s energy, while still providing an unmistakable groove stemming from his own spontaneous decisions. With Baker on the kit, you never know where the music may take you.
Everett “Guitar Slim” Clark’s musical journey began at birth on July 23, 2006, marked by a divine blessing to play music. Supported by the prayers of the righteous and the consistency of his mother, he received a bass guitar at age 11, igniting his passion for music. Since then, whether playing drums, electric bass, or upright, he has uplifted hearts and shared the Gospel of Jesus, destined to move crowds. As a Senior at Charles F. Brush High School, Everett has been a dedicated bassist and drummer for over 7 years. Currently working as a cashier and serving as a musician at various places of worship, Everett plans to study Audio Engineering at Tri-C and later transfer to Tennessee State University, guided by his faith in Christ.
Ayden Micah Cohen’s musical journey started at birth on January 26 2010. Listening to all the music he can followed by receiving his first guitar at the age of 7 years old. Ayden is an eighth grader at Solon Middle School. After 7 years of playing, Ayden has had many musical experiences and opportunities to play with many different very important people. Ayden loves all different genres of music but specializes in blues and jazz. He plans to stay on his musical career through high school and wants to keep on that same path in college.
Alexander Lahti-Thiam is a jazz saxophonist, bandleader and composer based in Cleveland,Ohio and Ann Arbor, Michigan. Alex is an alumnus of the Tri-C Jazz-Fest Academy, where he had the opportunity to study with world class musicians including, but not limited to, Dominick Farinacci, David Sterner and Nathan Paul-Davis. Alex is currently studying under Dr. Andrew Bishop in Ann Arbor where he participates in and leads several jazz and popular music ensembles.
