The Alaska Electronic Orchestra is the latest project of Rick Zelinsky, a multifaceted artist and educator based in Anchorage, Alaska, recognized for his work as a saxophone/woodwind artist in jazz, classical and electronic genres. The AEO integrates acoustic, electronic and nature field recordings inspired through jazz, classic, and ambient genres. Robert Sewell (host of “Take Five,” a long-running jazz show on Public Radio, Juneau) describes the AEO as “jazz meets fusion meets house meets Brian Eno.”

Rick Zelinsky teaches band in the Anchorage School District and saxophone at the University of Alaska, Anchorage, and has degrees in saxophone performance at Cleveland State University studying with Howie Smith, Masters in saxophone performance at the University of Akron, and Electronic Sound Design and Production Masters certificate at Berklee School of Music. He is a Yamaha Saxophone Artist, and a Rasmuson Foundation Artist Fellowship supported the work on his 5th album, “Strange Mountains,” which led to a 6th, “Earth Soundz,” in 2023.
