The CB4 (Chris Burge Quartet) Live Recording Session @ BOP STOP

Join us for a live recording event led by Cleveland saxophonist Chris Burge. The CB4 returns to the BOP STOP for an evening of standards and original compositions to be recorded in front of a live audience. The CB4 began in 2021 with a regular engagement at Jimmy's Place in Olmsted Falls, and has performed at BluJazz+ and the Bop Stop. The members have long performed together for private occasions, and as a backup band to other artists, such as Evelyn Wright.

The quartet is led by Christopher Burge, and plays tight, melodic, groove-oriented, and highly personal interpretations of American Songbook, Jazz, World, and Pop Standards, as well as originals. A recording of the group is in the works.

Featuring:

  • Christopher Burge-tenor saxophone
  • Dr. David Thomas-piano
  • Kip Reed-bass
  • Bill Ransom-drums

Tickets for this performance are $20 each. This event will not be livestreamed.

Since moving to Cleveland in October 1997, Christopher has played with Johnny Mathis, Gino Vannelli, Lynyrd Skynyrd, David Sanborn, Cyndi Lauper, Mavis Staples, Ronnie Spector, Clark Terry, David "Fathead" Newman, "Little" Jimmy Scott, Bobby Caldwell, Benny Golson, Nancy Wilson, The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame House Band, Vanessa Rubin, Evelyn Wright, Helen Welch, Ernie Krivda, and Dominic Farinacci. Christopher is active in the recording studio, having recorded for artists from Al Green to American Greetings, and having written and recorded the theme song of the WVIZ-PBS TV show "Applause".
