Jacob B. Johnson is a vocalist, arts educator, musician and award-winning actor. Born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio and former student at the Cleveland School of the Arts, Johnson has performed on many of Cleveland's stages, including Severance Hall, Bop Stop, Nighttown, Tri-C JazzFest, and Playhouse Square.
As a pianist, Johnson has accompanied the likes of internet sensations, national performers and international touring artists for the world-renowned Severance Hall and The Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. These artists include Reggie Kelly, Callie Day, Kierra Sheard-Kelly, Lalah Hathaway and Rachelle Ferrell. His other professional works include regional and national theater productions where Johnson has served as either vocal coach, orchestra pianist or music director. These professional productions include The Wiz, Brooklyn The Musical, 42nd Street, Boundless Grace, In The Heights, Bring It On: The Musical, Dreamgirls, Urinetown, Black Nativity, and Ain't Misbehavin'.
Currently, Johnson is the assistant music director for the emmy-nominated CMSD All-City Arts Program, organist at Zion Chapel Baptist Church, vocal music director for Dike School of the Arts, and also serves as a resident performer for the oldest operating african-american theater in the country, the historic Karamu House Theater.
