Regarded as one of the most renowned leaders and percussionists of our time, Sammy Deleon has transcended genre, style and class into a 40+ year musical career which revels in rich influences from the 70s to the present. Deleon has fronted his own band for 27+ years becoming a staple of the Latin music scene gaining popularity for his irresistible, danceable groove-oriented music. Sammy is a recipient of the prestigious TRI-C Latin Jazz of the Year award -- joining the likes of Eddie Baccus, Greg Bandy, Kenny Davis, Bob McKee, Jackie Warren, Mark Mauldin, and Jamie Hadad. Deleon developed a long-standing friendship with the late Tito Puente Sr. -- inspiring him to explore Latin rhythms and Afro-Cuban music; and mentor aspiring percussionists in Latin rhythms. Performance credits include Tito Puente Sr., Héctor Lavoe, El Gran Combo de Puerto Rico, Ismael Miranda, Tommy Olivencia, Richie Ray, Poncho Sanchez, Adalberto Santiago, Maelo Ruiz, Vitin Avilés, Chivirico Dávila, Víctor Manuelle, and Cleveland Jazz Orchestra. Deleon’s performances include Severance Hall (to play this stage is equivalent to Carnegie Hall in New York), TRI-C Jazz Fest, Playhouse Square, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, La Guarapachanga in Pinar del Río in Cuba, and the World Salsa Congress in Los Angeles.

Jackie Warren, pianist in several notable ensembles including the 3D Jazz Trio, Sammy Deleon y su Orquesta, and the Cleveland Jazz Orchestra, recently appeared Off-Broadway (New World Stages) with Sherrie Maricle and the DIVA Jazz Orchestra in Maurice Hines’ critically acclaimed TAPPIN’ THRU LIFE. Jackie has performed at The Blue Note, Lincoln Center, Dizzy’s, Small’s, Mezzrow, the Gilmore International Keyboard Festival, and La Guarapachanga in Pinar Del Río, Cuba. Jackie received the 2018 Tri-C Jazz Legend of the Year Award, and has performed with Ken Peplowski, Ismael Miranda, Bobby Sanabria, Tony Vega, and Tito Puente, Jr. Studio recordings include “After Hours” in 2019, and with the 3D Jazz Trio in 2020 “I Love to See You Smile” which received four stars in Downbeat, “Christmas in 3D” a NY Times holiday album pick for Top 20 in 2020, and “9 to 5” recorded in 2022. Jackie teaches at several Cleveland area universities, and is the artistic director for Amistad Caribbean Arts Camp.
