BOP STOP is excited to welcome Michigan-based bassist Carlo De Rosa for his debut as a leader on our stage. Carlo brings an exciting trio featuring Grammy-winning pianist, Luis Perdomo, and one of today's most in-demand drummers, Adam Cruz.

Carlo De Rosa is a long-time veteran of the New York City jazz scene. De Rosa has worked with a diverse group of musical artists including Ray Barretto, Jamie Baum, Ravi Coltrane, Amir ElSaffar, David Gilmore, Vijay Iyer, Ingrid Jensen, Rudresh Mahanthappa, Allison Miller, Arturo O’Farrill, Tyshawn Sorey, Mike Stern, and Ed Thigpen. He has played on over 50 albums including the 2009 Grammy award winning album by Yo-Yo Ma, Songs of Joy & Peace and Grammy nominated album by Chembo Corniel, Things I Wanted to Do. De Rosa also played on the 2021 Latin Grammy nominated album by Roxana Amed, Ontology. DeRosa’s own 2011 album Brain Dance features Mark Shim, Vijay Iyer, and Justin Brown. This album was highly acclaimed by critics and musicians alike even garnering the following quote from jazz drum legend Jack DeJohnette: "I liked what I heard… great writing and ensemble playing. Deep thoughtful solos.” De Rosa was a New York State Council of the Arts composition grant recipient in both 2008 and 2013.
In 2018 De Rosa began attending the Frost School of Music at University of Miami for his DMA. He was a Graduate Teaching Assistant and Henry Mancini Institute Fellow. He quickly became an integral part of the Miami jazz scene collaborating with artists including Roxana Amed, Martin Bejerano, John Daversa, Sammy Figueroa, John Hart, Brian Lynch, Dafnis Prieto, Troy Roberts, Gonzalo Rubalcaba, and Nestor Torres. In the Fall of 2022 De Rosa moved to Michigan to become Professor of Jazz Bass at Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo. De Rosa’s stylistic versatility and technical prowess make him an in-demand bassist of the highest standard.
Grammy® Award Winning Pianist Luis Perdomo has released nine critically acclaimed recordings as a leader, and has appeared on over 250 recordings as a sideman. A native of Venezuela, Perdomo holds a bachelor's degree from the Manhattan School of Music and a master's degree from Queens College. He has performed and recorded with a wide variety of artists, such as Ravi Coltrane, David Gilmore, Don Byron, Tom Harrell, Brian Lynch, Ray Barretto, Henry Threadgill, Ralph Irizarry, David Sanchez, George Garzone and Steve Turre amongst others. He is a founding member of the Miguel ZenoĢn Quartet, a collaboration that has yielded 12 recordings in 24 years. Miguel Zenon and Luis’ collaboration, “El Arte del Bolero”, a duo recording, was nominated for a Grammy@ and a Latin Grammy® in 2022. Their follow up album “El Arte del Bolero Vol 2” received a 2024 Grammy® Award for “Best Latin Jazz Record”.
In addition to keeping a busy performing schedule, Mr. Perdomo is very active as a clinician and professor of music. He is currently a professor of ensembles and piano at Berklee College of Music.
One of the most multifaceted and creative musicians of today, drummer and composer Adam Cruz is best known for his work with Danilo Perez, Tom Harrell, Steve Wilson, and Edward Simon. Cruz was born in New York City. He spent his formative years with saxophonist David Sanchez and the Mingus Big Band. He then toured and recorded with Chick Corea and Origin, culminating in the recordings Origin and A Week at the Blue Note. His teachers have included his father/ percussionist Ray Cruz, Frank Malabe, Kenny Washington, Victor Lewis, Keith Copeland, Portinho, Lewis Nash, and Joe Chambers. He has worked in groups led by artists such as Chris Potter, McCoy Tyner, John Patitucci, Pharaoh Sanders, Joey Calderazzo, Hilton Ruiz, Dr. Lonnie Smith, Eddie Palmieri, Lou Donaldson, Charlie Hunter and Paquito D’Rivera among many others.
Cruz’s remarkable musicianship has made him one of the most in demand drummers of today. In 2010 he was awarded a grant from the ACFM to record his much anticipated, debut recording as a composer and bandleader entitled Milestone.
Adam has has received great critical acclaim by the Los Angeles Times, Downbeat Magazine, Jazz Times, Modern Drummer Magazine, The Wall Street Journal and The New York Times.
