Ellie Martin is a jazz singer, songwriter, and composer whose music blends rich storytelling with heartfelt melodies. With a PhD in Jazz Studies from the University of Pittsburgh and a Master’s in Jazz Voice Performance from the University of Toledo, she has studied under jazz greats like Geri Allen and Jon Hendricks. Ellie has performed internationally, including at the International Jazz Voice Conference in Helsinki and the Rhythm Changes Conference in Graz. In 2023, she released Verdant, her debut album of original compositions, to national success. Her upcoming album Morning Glories explores the strength and vulnerability of motherhood, weaving personal experiences into evocative compositions.

Olman Piedra is a versatile percussionist specializing in jazz and Afro-Latin music. Originally from Costa Rica, he has performed with renowned artists across multiple genres and holds a DMA in Percussion Performance. As a professor of percussion, he brings deep rhythmic knowledge and expressive nuance to every performance. His dynamic playing provides the heartbeat of the Ellie Martin Quartet.

Ariel Kasler is a versatile pianist and guitarist who has performed extensively across North America, Israel, the UK, and Australia. A graduate of Berklee College of Music and Bowling Green State University, he has worked with renowned musicians such as Mick Goodrick and Hal Crook. Based in Ohio and Canada, he performs regularly with various ensembles and is a member of the BGSU Faculty Jazz Ensemble. With a deep background in jazz and classical music, Ariel’s dynamic and expressive playing adds richness and depth to the Ellie Martin Quartet.

Kurt Krahnke is an accomplished acoustic bassist with a career spanning decades in the jazz world. A graduate of Berklee College of Music, he has performed with legends such as Joe Henderson, Sonny Fortune, and Leon Thomas, and toured with the JC Heard Orchestra. Based in Detroit, he has been a vital part of the regional jazz scene, recording and performing with top artists while mentoring the next generation of bassists. With a deep groove and masterful musicianship, Kurt provides the solid foundation and creative interplay that drive the Ellie Martin Quartet.
