September 28 from 7:00pm - 9:00pm
The contradictions of Kern; catchy yet complex, sweet but with depth, old fashioned and timeless, witty but guileless, charming but intimate, sophisticated yet approachable. Cute, but not THAT cute. His songs sit in the overlap between jazz, popular music, movie musicals and music theater. And there are no two performers more up to the task of getting all of that across than Randie Shane and Joe Leaman. A journey through the vast Kern rep that will have you wondering why you never heard that song, and finally realizing who it was that wrote that other one you love so much. Tickets for tonight are $15 each in advance, $20 day of show.

This event will also be livestreamed on BOP STOP's Youtube Channel at showtime. Accessing the stream is free but donations are encouraged and directly support the band.

Local vocalist Randie Shane is an embodiment of the best elements of standard, popular, music theater and jazz music. Before leaving the theater profession to become a therapist, this Northwestern University Theater graduate has performed leading roles at regional theaters, been a featured artist on the Broadway tours of Showboat and Swing! The Musical, performed at multiple cabaret venues in New York City, and even made an appearance with the great Cleveland Jazz Orchestra at the Stage Theater, in a duet with Ann Hampton Callaway. She has performed the music of Joni Mitchell at the Triad Theater in NYC, and in Cleveland at both The Bop Stop and Blu Jazz Akron. She currently can be heard as a featured vocalist for the Nick Puin Jazz Band, and sings tenor with the fabulous a cappella ladies of Premium Blend. Randie’s voice is sweet, textured, evocative and versatile. As an actress, she has a way with a lyric, and taps deeply into the emotional journey of a song.
Joe Leaman is an in-demand creative that lives in Akron, OH. A child of a music teacher, Joe showed curiosity in music and performing from an early age, and was playing professionally by the age of 16. Relocating to North East Ohio to attend the University of Akron, Joe was fortunate to be able to cultivate his love for piano and percussion simultaneously, studying with legendary teachers Dr. Larry Snider and Jack Schantz. Currently, Joe runs his own teaching studio, he's the Music and Worship Director at Montrose Zion United Methodist Church in Bath and maintains an active and stylistically eclectic performing career.
