Join us as legendary Cleveland percussionist Sammy Deleon returns to BOP STOP for an evening of Latin jazz, salsa, merengue & more. Sammy will be joined by several of his musical collaborators including master pianist, Jackie Warren!

Deleon 's passion and love for Latin music led to a career as a percussionist, bandleader, Salsa and Latin Jazz educator. Regarded as one of the most renowned percussionists of our time, has transcended genre, style and class into a musical career spanning (5) decades, which revels in rich influences from the 70s to the present. In 2025, Deleon & Orquesta, celebrate a milestone 30-year anniversary, and he has no plans of slowing down!

With a fearless nature and passion as a leader and percussionist, is a fixture on the Salsa and Latin Jazz scene. He is well known for magnetic charisma, showmanship -- gaining popularity with irresistible, high-energy music, and explosive performances for people of all ages. Born into a musical family, Deleon has been driven by an inner rhythm his entire life and considers music to be the purest form of self-expression.

Deleon is the first, and only salsa orchestra, to perform at the most prestigious hall in Northeast Ohio -- The Cleveland Orchestra, Severance Music Center. Other venues include TRI-C Jazz Fest, Detroit Symphony Orchestra, Ohio Governor’s Mansion, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Akron Museum of Art, Cleveland Music of Art, Rocket Arena, Nightown, various Chamber of Commerce, Playhouse Square, State Theatre, universities, theaters, festivals and La Guarapachanga in Pinar del Río (Cuba). Deleon participated in the Musician’s Seminar Orchestra, which would play the opening night at the World Salsa Congress in Los Angeles, CA, led under the direction of multi-Grammy Award Winner Mr. Oscar Hernandez. In 2023, Deleon’s band participated in the New Ad Campaign Captures the Heart of Ohio's Tourism.

Deleon has received innumerable recognition including humanitarian, achievement, proclamations, Best Latin Band and many others. Also, Deleon received the prestigious “TRI-C Latin Jazz of the Year” award joining the likes of Eddie Baccus, Greg Bandy, Kenny Davis, Bob McKee, Jackie Warren, Mark Mauldin, and Jamie Hadad. Deleon is the only Latin band to have consecutive full house performances at The Cleveland Orchestra, Severance Music Center --to play this stage is equivalent to Carnegie Hall in New York). He is a Named Finalist in the 2025 InterContinental Music Awards, an international competition that recognizes outstanding musical talent from across the globe. The InterContinental Music Awards, based in Los Angeles, California, celebrates musicians from every continent and all genres, promoting peace, unity, and cultural diversity while providing professional recognition and growth opportunities. Also, the University of Akron is putting the final changes on a memoir on Deleon’s life, with a projected release in 2026.

Deleon teaches and mentors aspiring percussionists in Latin rhythms; and loved for the joy he brings through his irresistible dance music.
