Please join us for an evening with Detroit native and NYC-based pianist/composer, David Janeway. David and his trio, featuring the talents of master percussionist Jamey Haddad and bassist Jeff Pedraz, make an anticipated return to the BOP STOP. Tickets for this evening are $20 each in advance, $25 day of show (a $2 per ticket processing fee will be added to your purchase).

Jazz pianist and composer, David Janeway, grew up in Detroit in the early sixties and was heavily influenced by Motown and local jazz musicians such as Marcus Belgrave and Harold McKinney before moving to New York City in 1978. Janeway studied with the late Albert Dailey and performed with many Latin-Jazz and mainstream jazz artists during this period including The Supremes, Art Farmer, Angel Canales and Sabor, Michal Urbaniak, Jr. Cook, Sonny Fortune, Tom Harrell, Valery Ponomarev, Roseanna Vitro, Pete Yellin, Dakota Staton, Eliot Zigmund and many others.
Janeway has performed extensively in the NYC club scene from the late 70s to the present both as a leader and sideman at Smalls, Mezzrow, Zinc Bar, Sweet Basil, Birdland, Visiones, Zanzibar, Jazz Forum, Deer Head Inn and Maureen’s Jazz Cellar as well as the Detroit Jazz Festival, Madison Square Garden for the 1980 Salsa Festival, the Village Gate for the Salsa Meets Jazz series and other clubs and venues throughout the US and Europe.
His CD, Distant Voices (Steeplechase SCCD 33145) featuring Billy Hart and Cameron Brown, received wide acclaim. They released their second CD, Forward Motion (Steeplechase SCCD 31966) in 2024.
