Spend an afternoon learning vocal technique from our special guest, Benjamin Czarnota, Voice Instructor at Baldwin Wallace University Community Arts School.
Voice students of The Music Settlement will perform vocal selections for Mr. Czarnota, who will provide suggestions and strategies for strengthening the performance in a live masterclass. The program will be held at 3:00 pm in Glick Recital Hall. The masterclass is free and open to the public. Vocalists of all ages and skill levels are encouraged to attend.
Benjamin Czarnota, bass-baritone, is a Cleveland-based voice pedagogue and performer whose teaching spans classical and musical theatre repertoire. He holds the Doctor of Music in Voice Performance & Literature from the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, where he also earned a Graduate Certificate in Vocology specializing in vocal health and rehabilitation. His research focuses on stress-informed pedagogy and sustainable vocal development for young singers.
Czarnota has taught for nearly two decades at institutions including Baldwin Wallace Conservatory, the University of the Arts in Philadelphia (where he served as Coordinator of Musical Theater Voice), Ashland University, and Heidelberg University, and he is senior faculty with the LoVetri Institute for Somatic Voicework™. His students have gone on to leading roles on Broadway, national tours, and admission to top collegiate programs.
As a performer, he has sung with Indiana University Opera Theater, Wichita Grand Opera, and Cleveland Opera Theater, and he created the roles of Otto Frank in the world premiere of Anne Frank by Shulamit Ran and Mr. Webb in the world premiere of Our Town by Ned Rorem.
Known for his supportive, functionally grounded, and stylistically flexible approach, Czarnota is dedicated to helping young singers build healthy technique, authentic expression, and confident artistry across genres.
