BOP STOP at The Music Settlement is Cleveland's premier listening room: an intimate, acoustically pristine performance venue with sweeping views of Lake Erie.

Vocalist, Debbie Darling, returns to The BOP STOP on April 19th from 7-9 p.m. with a Tribute to the Songwriters of the LGBTQ+ Community. She and her talented musical ensemble will be paying tribute to the likes of Billy Strayhorn, Bart Howard, Yip Harburg, Lorenz Hart, George Michael, Elton John, Stephen Sondheim, Jerry Herman, Barry Manilow, Peter Allen, John Kander, Fred Ebb, Freddie Mercury, Cole Porter and others. These songwriters have enriched our lives with their incredible talent and have given us some of the most memorable songs in the history of music.
Tickets to attend this show are $15 in advance or $20 the day of the show. This concert will NOT be live-streamed.
Debbie Darling is a singer/songwriter who has performed a wide range of musical styles. She studied voice under David Blair McCloskey, (vocal coach for the Metropolitan Opera). She’s provided her vocal talents for small bands, large orchestras and commercial voice overs. She's sung with Stanley Turrentine, The Peter Duchin Band, The Tommy Dorsey Band, and more. She was the national spokesperson for Catherine’s Plus Sizes and has been on radio and TV across the country including The Richard Simmons Show, Hard Copy and The Oprah Winfrey Show. She has sung up and down the Eastern sea coast.. She and her musical partner David Strieter also deliver informative musical talks on a variety of topics from The Great American Songbook, to Frank Sinatra, to The Black Women of Jazz and more. David Strieter (piano) has been working in the field of music for over forty years as a musical director, studio musician, arranger/composer, worship leader and teacher. He performs all musical styles from Classical to Jazz, Blues, Pop, Broadway, Country, Worship and Rock, brilliantly. He studied classical music at both the Cleveland Institute of Music and the Cleveland Music School Settlement and studied Jazz with the late great Joe Howard. David served as the musical director/pianist for Neil ZaZa and has played keyboards for several Cleveland area bands including Time Warp and Razzmatazz and has been the accompanist for many theatrical productions as well as playing regularly with a trio. He has been collaborating with Debbie Darling since 2017 and together they provide musical programs and highly acclaimed musical talks across Northeast Ohio. We are all looking forward to his first CD release entitled “On My Heart”. David is a rare and exceptional talent.
Mark Tobik (Bass) began playing bass when he was 15 years old… it was love at first sight. He has toured with some notable record label artists throughout the US, Canada, and Europe. Formerly based in Los Angeles and New Orleans, he relocated to Cleveland in 2016. He is a voracious listener of Soul and Jazz music.
AJ Kluth (Saxophone and Clarinet) is a collaborative improvising saxophonist and multi-instrumentalist invested in Black American Music and musical experimentalism. He has worked extensively in the Chicago, NYC, and Los Angeles scenes and is a top call reed player in Northeast Ohio. Additionally, Kluth is a musicologist whose research investigates issues of aesthetics, identity, and ethics in global popular and experimental music. He teaches at Case Western Reserve University.
