Vocalist, Debbie Darling, has put together a talented musical ensemble for her return to The BOP STOP. Her new show pays tribute to Jewish Songwriters Who Have Played a Role in American Music. Tickets for tonight are $20 each in advance, $25 day of show (a $3 per ticket processing fee will be added to your purchase).

Debbie Darling is a singer/songwriter who has performed a wide range of musical styles. She studied voice under David Blair McCloskey, (vocal coach for the Metropolitan Opera). As a member of Little Flags Theater Company, she worked closely with Obie Award winner Maxine Klein. She’s provided her vocal talents for small bands, large orchestras and commercial voice overs. She's sung with Stanley Turrentine, The Peter Duchin Band, The Tommy Dorsey Band, The Duke Ellington Band under the direction of Duke’s son Mercer and more. She was the national spokesperson for Catherine’s Plus Sizes and has been on radio and TV across the country including The Richard Simmons Show, Hard Copy and The Oprah Winfrey Show. She has sung up and down the Eastern sea coast and delivers informative musical talks to groups across the country on a variety of topics which can be found under Musical Talks at www.debbiedarling.com She will be accompanied by:

Ed Ridley (piano) is a well seasoned and respected piano player who is no stranger to the Bop Stop. His musical abilities have impacted Northeast Ohio, The US and abroad for over 35 years. He is a “musical linguist” in Jazz, Gospel, Classical, Latin, and R&B styles. The varied experience of accompanying major artists such as Walter Hawkins, Aretha Franklin, Jon Hendricks, Vanessa Rubin, Peter Yarrow and Lauryn Hill are excellent examples of his versatility. With dozens of recording credits, over 100 professional theater credits, and numerous composer and arranger credits, Ed's world is constantly full of musical adventure. Performer, composer, arranger, producer, conductor, musical director, and educator are all roles that Ed has maintained consistently throughout his musical career.

Marc Paige (Sax and Clarinet) is a native Clevelander. As a dedicated clarinet and saxophone player, he has been performing with various local groups continuously since the late 60’s! He is currently a member of 8 different groups, including 3 swing big bands, 2 rock bands, a Sinatra tribute group, a jazz trio, and a classical clarinet ensemble. He thoroughly enjoys his other main interest of restoring and riding vintage motorcycles. His current collection numbers 11!

Jeremey Poparad (guitar) is a guitarist, bassist, composer, and educator in the Northeast Ohio area. He holds bachelor's degrees in jazz studies and music composition and master's degrees in electric guitar performance and music composition. He is currently pursuing a PhD in music theory/composition. He has been on the faculty at the University of Mount Union, Kent State University, Ashland University, and Lakeland Community College.

As a performer, Jeremey regularly appears with jazz and rock groups as well as classical ensembles and in musical theatre pit orchestras. He performs across the United States with the soul/funk band Bassel and the Supernaturals and locally as the principal double bassist for the Cleveland Philharmonic Orchestra, musical theatre productions at the Cleveland Playhouse, Canton Players Guild, and Porthouse Theatres, with jazz bands such as the Skatch Anderssen Orchestra, the Danjo Jazz Orchestra, and the Forest City Django Club, as well as the special event cover band Perfect Choice. As a band leader with his own ensembles, Jeremey leads and composes music for the progressive rock band Axon-Neuron, the electronic-jazz ensemble Volt Meter, the hybrid classical-jazz group Janus Ensemble, as well as a French Manouche jazz group The Hot Club of Akron.

Kevin Muhammad (Bass) is a Cleveland native and has been playing bass for a half a century. He has played with virtually every major player in Cleveland as well as many international musicians. Locally he’s played with Lawrence “Jacktown” Jackson, Greg Bandy, Ace Carter, Neal Creque , Howie Smith, Ron Browning, Kenny Davis and Lafayette Carthon, Robert Hubbard to name a few and Internationally known artists such as Donald Byrd, Ellis Marsalis, Dr. Eddie Henderson, Gary Bartz, Renee Rosness, James Williams, Mark Whitfield, Jimmy Ponder and more. He is currently working with Dan Maier and Mark Grey (North Coast Jazz Collective).

Mark Grey (Drums) was born into a family of drummers. He learned to play drums on his father’s 1950’s Gene Krupa model Slingerland Drums. He began to play 43 years ago from elementary school through college, including with the John Carroll Jazz Band. In addition to playing with jazz trios while in graduate school at the University of Hawaii, Mark has
played all around as a sideman with numerous Cleveland area jazz musicians over the past twenty-six years. Along the way, he founded the Northcoast Jazz Collective (NJC) in 2001 and remains actively playing to this day. Mark has been featured in an interview on two Cleveland Jazz Shows: Dan Polletta’s, Jazz from the Northcoast on WCPN 90.3 FM and John Simna’s Jazz Up All Night on WRMR 1420am representing the NJC. He has recorded three CDs with the Northcoast Jazz Collective.
