TMS Debuts Brand-New Dalcroze Classes for Spring 2026

Get ready to watch your child’s musicality and imagination take flight! This February, the Center for Music will be launching two new Dalcroze classes for students ages 4 - 9, hosted by Lauren Hodgson of the Dalcroze School of Music and Movement.
What is Dalcroze Eurhythmics?
The Dalcroze approach is an experience-based method for learning music through the body. Deep musical learning unfolds through playful and creative activities, allowing the student’s understanding of concepts to emerge not from explanation but from action. Movement, active listening, and structured musical improvisation are all key elements that foster artistic expression and critical thinking. Students will strengthen their coordination, balance, attention, spatial awareness, and vocal skills. Along the way, students will also develop important foundations for both music and life: motor skills, musical vocabulary, early music literacy, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Students currently enrolled in programming at The Music Settlement can receive 10% off this class through the Center for Music's multiple registration discount.
(Note: One discount per family per fiscal year. Discount will be taken off the least expensive course and cannot be applied retroactively. After registering, please call 216-421-5806 ext. 100 to have your discount applied.)

Dalcroze Eurhythmics A
Ages 4 - 5 and 5 - 7
- Wednesdays at TMS Ohio City
- Thursdays at TMS University Circle
- 3:30 pm - 4:15 pm for ages 4 - 5
- 4:15 pm - 5:00 pm for ages 5 - 7
Students enrolled in full-day preschool and / or kindergarten at The Music Settlement can be walked over to class. Kindergarten students will dismiss for the day from class. Preschool students can be dismissed for the day from class or returned to their classroom to finish the normal school day.
