In-person instruction is the ideal method for delivering private lessons. However, in today's ever-changing environment, the need for remote / distance learning options is critical and, with continuously improving technology, the ability to administer effective remote private lessons is easier than ever before.

Distance Learning – Current Students

Current students have the option to talk with their private lesson teacher and decide the platform that will work best for them. We have seen success recently with teachers using Zoom, FaceTime, Google Duo and other distance learning apps and web sites.

Distance Learning – New Students

Interested in distance learning with The Music Settlement?  Please contact the Center for Music at 216-421-5806 ext. 180 or email so we can learn about your music goals and recommend one of our talented music teachers. In some cases, it may be possible to take a free, no risk 15-minute trial lesson to make sure distance learning lessons are a good fit for you.

When the social distancing orders are lifted and our campuses are re-opened, we expect new students who began lessons through distance learning, switch to in-person lessons at our University Circle or Ohio City campus.

Do you reside outside of the Ohio area, or even outside of the United States and have always wanted to take lessons with some of our nationally and internationally known music faculty? There’s no better time to get started!

For out-of-state and out-of-country new students, with the teacher’s permission, we offer four (4), six (6), and eight (8) lesson blocks through the end of the 2021-2022 school year. Once “Stay-at-home” orders are lifted, students outside of Ohio and the country may continue to take private lessons through distance learning. Please visit our faculty page to learn more about our esteemed teachers!
