More about Our Voices: DEMOCRACY RE:visited

Tri-C JazzFest Cleveland is commissioning a new composition by Grammy-winning trumpeter and composer Terence Blanchard. Entitled “re-vis-it,” the work is inspired by the Voting Rights Act of 1965, the most effective piece of civil rights legislation ever enacted in this country. The piece will reflect the conditions, events and individuals that have produced political change and impacted public policy. The multi-movement work will feature Blanchard’s current group, the E-Collective, and the poems of M[A]B'S founder/composer RA Washington.

A series of community talk backs, forums and panels will be scheduled to give Mr. Blanchard a look into how Cleveland remembers and continues to be impacted by The Voting Rights Act. This is the second event in the series.
