Arts & Play is co-led by an Early Childhood teacher and a Board Certified Music Therapist and meets mornings for two weeks in a Preschool classroom at The Music Settlement. Activities include: play time, snack, circle time, stories, arts & crafts, movement activities, outdoor activities, and music therapy. This program helps children learn how to be a part of a classroom and to accept the differences in others.

To join Arts & Play, families must provide their camper's IEP or professional evaluation. Each camper will have an individual assessment and a group classroom visit with our Arts & Play staff before being accepted into the program.

Arts & Play does not qualify for 10% camp savings.

In this week-long chamber music experience, campers will play in an ensemble, receive daily coachings, and attend instrument-specific technique classes. Students will also attend chamber music seminars, like “how to study scores” and “incorporating efficient rehearsal techniques.” Special guest artist Annie Fullard, first violinist of the Cavani String Quartet, will also present a masterclass and seminar. At the conclusion of the week, campers will perform in a final showcase concert on Saturday, July 18th.

This camp is open to string musicians, as well as voice and piano. Vocalists and pianists will be placed in a group with string players.

During this week of musical exploration, campers will engage with several families of instruments including strings, winds, brass, percussion, and keyboard. Campers will also participate in musical games, crafts, and receive hands-on experience from each family of instruments. This camp is a great opportunity to discover which instruments best connect with your camper before investing in private instruction. Previous musical experience is not necessary.

This summer immersion experience is an intensive chamber music program for adult musicians who play strings, woodwinds, and piano.

Emphasis will be placed on ensemble playing with a significant amount of coaching time. Each group will work on 2-3 selections and perform them on the final concert. There will also be two interactive workshops to build ensemble skills, including listening, rhythm, balance, cueing and performance tips.

Registration deadline is June 25, 2020. Music will be mailed three weeks in advance. Participants can sign up either as an individual or a pre-formed group. In order to have well matched ensembles with appropriate music, if no suitable ensemble can be provided, the registration fee will be returned.

Campers will learn and practice the basics of chamber music, rehearse and perform with other campers, sit side-by-side with professional musicians, and perform in a recorded concert at the end of the week. Other topics will include careers in music, basic ear training, improvisation, music theory and critical listening skills.

Camp begins on Sunday, June 14th with a welcome orientation and placements. The culminating recital on Saturday, June 20th will take place in the afternoon.

Campers will take part in a hands-on creative rock ensemble that will help students take what they have learned and apply it in a group setting. Camp will include band rehearsal, music theory and ear training, group lessons, music history and appreciation, performance preparation, and songwriting. The camp will culminate in a live performance on Saturday early afternoon at a local music venue.

Daily recitals will showcase our Suzuki faculty and camp students every day at noon. Suzuki Camp begins on Sunday, August 2nd at 3:00 pm, where families will get their weekly schedules, meet teachers, and start the fun! The camp culminates with a grand finale concert on Saturday, August 8th at 10:00 am.

This is the perfect way to get yourself further down the road of cello playing! Our talented faculty will be there to guide you through this adventure while you bond with fellow cellists.

• Track 1- Advanced Beginner
  Skill Level: Ability to play scales with 0-2 sharps and flats, two-octave major scales.
  Sessions will rotate through technical drills of all sorts, including scales, arpeggios, intervals, and bowing exercises. Audio, video, and choir-reading sessions will increase understanding of the vast world of the cello.
  
  
• Track 2- Intermediate to Advanced
  Skill Level: Ability to play scales with 0-3 sharps and flats, three-octave major and minor scales, and be familiar with Thumb Position.
  Students should come prepared with pre-selected piece(s) to learn over the course of the intensive. Daily schedule will also include scale and arpeggio bees and etude work.
